Dr. Malik Muhammad is a Clinical Psychologist currently serving as the Clinical Director for Synthesis Behavioral Medicine. His expertise includes pre-operative evaluations for patients who are candidates for surgical procedures (such as gastric bypass surgery) and disability evaluations for military veterans. Dr. Muhammad works as a consultant to assist medical providers with effectively incorporating mental health services in medical settings.

In 2008, Dr. Muhammad relocated to the Durham area to complete a medical psychology internship at Duke University Medical Center focusing on Health Psychology and Chronic Pain. Since that time, he also worked as Clinical Director for Elite Biobehavioral leading a team of clinicians in client-driven therapy.

Throughout his education and career, Dr. Muhammad has held a particular interest in helping the most vulnerable in our communities. He worked with youth and families, serving on area Boards of Directors for youth organizations and projects and supporting programs for young leaders. Dr. Muhammad has also dedicated time to diversity initiatives and support for mentally disabled individuals.

Dr. Muhammad earned his Ph.D. at Palo Alto University in Palo Alto, California, his Masters of Science, Clinical Psychology at Pacific Graduate School of Psychology in Palo Alto and his Bachelors of Science, Psychology at United States International University in San Diego, California.

Dr. Muhammad is a licensed psychologist in the state of North Carolina and is a Certified Domestic Violence Response Specialist.
